I am wondering if "ssssh" has a patent on the name? The reason I want to know is: If SSSSH does not mind, I would like to start something similiar in our congregation and call it: SSSH (Secret Society of Service for HIM). Would there be an objection to that?

I just read your story in Sept. Guideposts and thought it was very inspiring to do something like that. I have beem doing little jobs for my neighbors, like cutting the grass, fixing things around the house and cleaning the outside of a neighbors house here in our neighborhood. I live among a lot of older people and I have been here in this house for 47 years and some people have lived here longer than me. I don't think I can go much longer as my legs and knees are bothering me but I will continue as long as my body holds out. Sad that a lot more people don't help their neighbors out but I guess we live in a very fast society. By the way I am 70.

I love the website and the story behind it. No doubt that Hal was an incredible person. I found out about SSSSH! through Pass It On in the September 2004 Guideposts. I will also contact Guideposts, but I was wondering if I could reprint that article online.
Thank you!

Purchased a meal at a fast food restaurant drive-in. We talked to the Manager to receive permission and provided the SSSSH chit. The chit was provided with the meal to a customer.
